Food Tasting: Ma del's

Our first ever food tasting was at Ma Del's, booking was very easy and we actually moved the time just a day before and it's not a problem with Ms. Anj (the manager). We found out about Ma Del's through the venue that we fell in love with - Club Ananda in Nasugbu. They are one of the accredited caterers (the cheapest actually), maybe because they are not a big company and not very well known as compared to the other caterers on the list (K by Cunanan, Hizon's, Juan Carlo, etc) but we still tried to search for reviews here and there. Most of the reviews from various blogs and Girltalk (my number 1 wedding support forum) are good so we decided to try and see for ourselves.

Their home office is located in Pasig, a townhouse unit so you could really tell that they are a small company. A girl welcomed us and direct us to the dining table, then the drinks and appetizer was served. Ms. Anj also joined while we are eating (mejo nahiya lang kami sumubo, Lol)

So let's start! Bon Appetit

Appetizer: Chicken Empananditas
Verdict: Definitely not going on our wedding, coz they look sad =( there is no presentation. We're only be getting one appetizer so it should look really appetizing and yong mejo malaking serving sana. For the taste, nothing special as well.

Soup: Cream of Asparagus
Verdict: Ordinary soup

Salad: Not available daw today...

Main: Chicken flambé
Verdict: This is where the first "wow" came in, super sarap nya. It's very flavorful, with the right balance that's why you can taste everything at once na walang nagoover-power. The chicken is wrapping the ham and cheese, then it baked to perfection. Winner!

Main: Veggie - Chopsuey with Qual Eggs
Verdict: Your typical chopsuey with the right amount of taste and saktong luto din ng veggies (still crunchy). Sarap!

Main: Pork - Korean Pork
Verdict: nothing special coz I already forgot the taste :)

Main: Beef - Beef with Mushroom (sorry forgot the exact name sa sobrang sarap)
Verdict: Another wow dish! Sobrang lambot ng beef and of course sakto na naman timpla. And did I mention na malambot yong beef? Oo, malambot sya promise!

Main: Fish- Fish Fillet  with Tartar Sauce
Verdict: My fiance love fish fillet at natuwa naman sya, so I guess pasado din ang dish na to. I'm not really into fried, breaded dishes kasi pero nasarapan ako sa dip, tangy kaya nakakawala ng sawa factor.

Main: Pasta- Linguine
Verdict: Masarap! :) Pinoy style sya, not maasim with thick cream.

Dessert: Buko Pandan Jello
Verdict: Cute presentation nya in shot glass at ang sarap ng cream, not too sweet so I think everyone will like it.

Drinks: Iced Tea
Verdict: It's probably Nestea Iced Tea =P

Overall: We think that Ma del's dishes are common but the cooking skills of Ms. Anj is undeniably good. Lahat ng dish nya have balanced flavor (tamang-tama ang timpla, pak) and you could never go wrong if you have that gift. We are highly considering them but we didn't pay for the reservation yet. We still have booked food tastings with KbyCunanan (right after this, kaya konti lang kinain namin) and Hizon's this week. Eto pa, there are chances that we can have another food tasting with Ma del's just a few days ahead because they will be catering at our chosen venue on the same day that we will visit it. Timing! It would be perfect coz we'll have a chance to taste the actual food that will be served in the event, that's where we can be sure na same quality sya as what we had in the food tasting. Nakakatuwa lang, meant to be? =)
