Right after our food tasting with Ma del's (lunch time), we headed to another sumptuous treat with non other than K by C (takaw much). We booked our FT via email a few days back while planning for our 10-day vacation in Ph. We were informed that they usually held their FTs every Tuesdays and Fridays at 1:00pm and 3:00pm (not sure if they allow special arrangements). Their place is easy to locate and you'll know your in the right place coz you'll find more than 5 cars parked outside (on the roadway). Sadly, I don't think they have parking space for their clients.
We were welcomed by uniformed staffs who guided us inside their "events area" and seated us to our table. The place has minimalist design, very modern feel with different types of tables, chairs and lamps which I guess part of how they want to showcase their styling.
Few tables were already in the middle of food tastings and meetings with their AEs/Stylists and we are just sitting there, waiting for further instructions? haha.. We didn't know the flow! All seemed busy so we just enjoyed the place and waited. Few minutes passed and our food arrived!!! We actually didn't know the name of the dishes served because we were not given any menu list. Though the server named every dish while placing it on the table, it wasn't clear and we didn't bother to ask him again because the names are just too long. Another thing is that we are overwhelmed by the number of food served at a time. We just want to start eating!!! (Please note that my fiance is in favor of the other caterer - Ma del's even before our FTs, I just ask him to try K coz I heard load of good reviews about their food..and of course their styling)
Platter of Appetizer:
Bacon Wrapped Dates
Spicy Tuna Tacos
Smoked Salmon, Toast, Ricotta, Truffle Oil
Vigan Longganisa
Verdict: Definitely, iba ang class level ng presentation nila. Like it's from a fancy restaurant/hotel but actually, they are way cheaper. The taste, for me is just so-so and I only liked the salmon something out of the four, but not that good for me.
Soup: Roasted Corn Soup
Verdict: I must say, this is one of the most delish soup I had. Personally, I never expected a lot from soups. It just have to be hot and not very salty, just to warm my tummy... but this one is really outstanding. I can't describe much but it's very delicious and my fiance agreed on this.
Soup: Tomato Soup, grilled croutons
Verdict: It's also a very tasty soup and we liked this one as well (but the roasted corn soup is definitely the winner)
Salad: Caesar Salad (forgot to take a pic-naexcite sa bacon)
Verdict: The bacon is way tooooo salty. I love bacon pa naman, it's my comfort food and I felt sad na di ko nagustuhan ang bacon nila. Imagine it's bacon bits lang on bed of greens pero I still cannot take the saltiness.
Salad: Watermelon and Feta
Verdict: Too many flavors! At first try I liked it coz I only scooped the top part where there are watermelon bits, which is refreshing - but digging in...I just think the combination doesn't work for me. It tasted weird.
Main: Roasted Rosemary Chicken - (left)
Verdict: It's a nice dish, nothing special but ok naman, nasarapan kami. It's just that the chicken isn't tender enough.
Main: - Pork Belly, Red Chimichuri (right)
Verdict: A wow dish for us! After the soup, finally, we had another winner dish (medyo napapahiya na kasi ako kay fiance, lol). The pork is drenched with a maja blanca like sauce, as in same taste and probably same ingredients as maja blanca in cream-like form. The creamy texture and the corn flavor is surprisingly complimenting the pork. Winner!
Main: Pasta - Black Pasta, Grilled Prawn, Chorizo and Chickpea Puree (left)
Verdict: We are not into black pastas kaya scary to for us... hihihi And it's a bit oily.
Main: Pasta - Baked Tomato and Creamy Pesto Penne (right)
Rice: Carrot Rice
Verdict: I heard raves about this famous carrot rice of K, so I insist my fiance to try it even if he's still full from our previous FT. And mejo diet daw sya kaya no-rice na, He liked it naman, me too but it's not that amazing for both of us. Nonetheless, if we are getting K, we'll definitely take the carrot rice simply because it's not your ordinary rice, maganda ang color nya.
Drinks: Raspberry Iced Tea
Verdict: Another famous and raved about from K! For us, it's tooooo sweet. The flavor is really good and refreshing but because its too sweet, I waited for the ice to melt before I could take a big sip.
Dessert: Picatostes with Chocolate Dip
Verdict: Looks yummy but we didn't like it. =( The chocolate syrup is just plain bitter (no sweetness and it's runny, i guess it should be thicker)

Verdict: Very Italian, if you're into Italian style (maasim) pastas you'll like this one.

Verdict: Love all 3 flavors! But we agreed that the one with strawberry filling is our grandslam winner! Im not sure who's their supplier, I must know and get them even if we'll not push through with K! ;)
Overall: Presentation wise, they got us! All of the dishes looked really delicious but it also made our expectations high. Kasi it looks really really yummy, but the taste doesn't come close kaya mejo disappointing. The main thing is that it doesn't have the right balance of flavors, parang if it's not too salty, or too sweet, wala naman lasa. If ever we will pursue with them, we should have a couple more food tastings and adjust the timpla (even the drinks kailangan i-adjust eh) :)
I'm not sure but maybe we were just unlucky with the menu they served that day, most of it wasn't their bestsellers and wala din yong dishes na matunog sa forums. More frustrating is that after we are done eating, nobody came to assist us. We even planned to eat and run, I bet nobody would even know! But were being nice so we decided to wait for the assigned AE for us (which we mentioned to the uniformed staffs who welcomed us), after 20 minutes of waiting we asked the staff again if she is already available to attend to us. A total of 35 minutes of waiting, dumating din! Menu was given to us after we told the AE that we didn't have a copy, Then we realize that some of the dishes listed on the menu didn't arrive (beef, seafood and other desserts) but we decided not to ask, uwing-uwi na kaya kami. Maybe not meant to be lang kami ni K!
